About me and my Camera's
Hi; am Woody and I have loved
photography from childhood. As a child, I used to drool over the cameras
in the local photo shop. The owner took pity on me, and started giving me
lessons in development and printing. I ruined lots of photo paper and felt
rather guilty but he was a great guy and I learned a lot in the short time his
store was there.
My first SLR was a Exa 11a
with, I think, a 50mm lens. I remember more about the day than the camera. I purchased it from a used camera store in King St one Tuesday afternoon in November 1968. As a young 16 year old I couldn't understand why the guy was in such a hurry to finish the transaction. I had forgotten about Melbourne Cup.
When I started work I purchased a Nikon FE2.
I had a Nikon 50mm lens and a Soligor 70 to 210 macro zoom. It was the best lens I have ever had it was f2.8 and focused to the length of the lens. I have a photo of a bug crawling across the front of the lens. That camera was stolen and I replaced it with a Sigma SA and a 28 to 300 Sigma lens.
The Digital age
I purchased my first digital camera in 2003. It was a Fujifilm 2800Zoom.
It had 2 mega pixels and a 6X zoom. That said I got really nice photos of the Richmond Air Show, with that camera. Still unable to afford a SLR in 2007 I purchased the next best thing, the Fujifilm 9600.
This camera had 9 megapixels and a 10X zoom or 28 to 300 mm; it also cost a $100 less than the 2800. This camera served my well taking photos for the Main Meeting of the Sydney PC User Group. until I purchased the Nikon.
I now have an OPPO Reno 12 Pro with two 50MP rear lenses and an ultra-wide lens. This model has what appears to be really useful AI.
